Podcaster and presidential pal Joe Rogan mercilessly mocked his buddy while talking to the chief of Canada’s opposition party on his Thursday podcast.

Pierre Poilievre, a Conservative Party Parliament member, addressed President Donald Trump’s dream of making the U.S.’s northern neighbor the 51st state, telling Rogan it’s been a major distraction for relations between the two supposed allies.

“We’re not for sale,” he said, adding, “I just wish he’d knock that shit off so that we can get back to talking about the things that we can do, as two separate countries that are actually friends.”

As Rogan asked if Canadians were taking Trump’s annexation threat seriously, Poilievre explained, “I think, at first, everyone thought it was a joke because we’ve always had these jokes like, you know, one day we’re going to take over Vermont, and Detroit should be part of Canada, and all that stuff. But then he kept saying it and saying it.”

“A lot of people got upset about it,” he went on.

“Understandably!” Rogan replied. “I mean, it’s a crazy thing to say. I talked to him on the phone about it. It was like, so funny.”

The podcast host started mimicking Trump’s boisterous rasp, as he recalled the president telling him, “At first I was joking, but then the people are like, ‘It’s a good idea.’”

“That’s not a good idea,” Rogan concluded.

Though one of Trump’s most influential allies in the mediasphere, the Austin, Texas-based personality hasn’t been shy when it comes to criticizing his friend.

Recently, he’s slammed the White House’s war with Iran, the ongoing immigration crackdown and its conduct around the Epstein files.
