Kelly Osbourne Responds To Body-Shamers After Going Viral From Brit Awards Look

Kelly Osbourne said she is “currently going through the hardest time” in her life after photos of her at the Brit Awards went viral, and she was body-shamed on social media. “There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something,” Osbourne wrote Sunday on her Instagram stories. “Kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most. None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character.” The 41-year-old TV personality and her mother, Sharon Osbourne, accepted the Brit’s Lifetime Achievement Award for the late Ozzy Osbourne during Saturday’s award ceremony. After their appearance, Kelly Osbourne, who was wearing a black skin-tight dress, was body-shamed for how thin she appeared. “She looks older than her own mother,” one of the posts read. Another told her to get “off of ozempic,” and one comment simply read, “get her a cheeseburger.” “I’m currently going through the hardest time in my life. I should not even have to defend myself,” she wrote. “But I won’t sit here and allow myself to be dehumanized in such a way!” It’s not clear what hardship Osbourne is referring to, but her father, Ozzy Osbourne, known as the Prince of Darkness, died in July at 76 years old. His death came just a few weeks after he performed and recorded his farewell concert with his band Black Sabbath. This isn’t the first time Osbourne has needed to defend herself against critics on social media. Last week, she shared a screenshot of comments users were writing about her body on her Instagram stories. “Literally can’t believe how disgusting some human beings truly are!” she told her followers. “No one deserves this sort of abuse!” Osbourne has been open about her struggles with her body image and weight. In 2018, she lost 85 pounds after gastric sleeve surgery. In a 2024 podcast episode, she said she was told by the head of an agency that she was “too fat for TV.” And most recently in December, just a few months after her dad’s death, she addressed body-shamers again in an Instagram video, saying she was “doing the best” she could after her dad died. “To the people who keep thinking they’re being funny and mean by writing comments like ‘Are you ill,’ or ‘Get off Ozempic, you don’t look right,’ my dad just died, and I’m doing the best that I can, and the only thing I have to live for right now is my family,” she said. Sharon Osbourne defended Kelly on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” telling his listeners, “She’s right. She’s lost her daddy, she can’t eat right now.” If you’re struggling with an eating disorder, call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org for support.
