Fatal highway shooting suspect escapes in Kansas City; manhunt ongoing

(NewsNation) — The FBI is offering $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a man believed to be responsible for a string of shootings that left one dead and several injured in Kansas City, Missouri, Tuesday evening. Authorities are actively searching for 22-year-old Oscar Sanchez-Munoz in connection with five shootings that occurred between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on June 16 across Kansas City, NewsNation local affiliate WDAF reported. Victims said shots were fired at their vehicles near the Interstate 70 area, according to police. Kansas City tries to reassure World Cup fans after highway shootings, severe storms Four people, including three adults and one teenager, were taken to hospitals following the shootings, while one died of their injuries. The FBI said Sanchez-Munoz is also wanted for a separate shooting that occurred days earlier in nearby Wyandotte County, Kansas, and that he should be considered armed and dangerous. Following the shootings Tuesday, authorities surrounded a home in nearby Independence, Missouri, where Sanchez-Munoz was believed to be hiding. The standoff reportedly lasted for several hours before the house caught fire. Uncle of missing McKenna Wendel charged in her cocaine-related death After the fire was extinguished and officers cleared the home, Sanchez-Munoz was not found inside, although his vehicle was located at the scene. Authorities describe him as a White (Hispanic) man, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 184 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. He has a tattoo on his right arm and acne scars. In one of the incidents, police said an Uber driver was shot in the leg while taking fans to Arrowhead Stadium for Kansas City’s first World Cup match between Argentina and Algeria.
