Former Tea Party Firebrand Sums Up Trump's GOP With A Damning 4-Letter Word

Former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) called out key figures in the Republican Party for fawning over President Donald Trump. Walsh, who quit the Republican Party after briefly attempting to run against Trump in the 2020 primary, shared footage of Trump’s latest Cabinet meeting ― which, as has become typical for these meetings, included a round of officials publicly praising him. “My. Former. Party. Is. A. Cult,” he wrote on X: My. Former. Party. Is. A. Cult. https://t.co/1fHHhTWnKq An analysis from the New York Times this week found that at least 1 out of every 6 sentences uttered in Cabinet meetings is in praise of Trump. Critics have compared the meetings to the types of flattery sessions seen in North Korea. Walsh was a firebrand conservative who was first elected in the 2010 “Tea Party” wave that sprang up in opposition to then-President Barack Obama. Widely criticized for his over-the-top rhetoric, Walsh admitted in 2019 that he crossed the line and “said racist things on Twitter” for which “an apology is not enough.” He’s since spoken out against Trump and his enablers in the current GOP, which he has frequently compared to a cult.
