Charlamagne Tha God wants people to take President Donald Trump seriously about his repeated mentions of potentially running for a third term, pointing to one expensive reason why.

“All you need to hear is him talking about his big, beautiful ballroom,” “The Daily Show” guest host said about the estimated $400 million project. “Do you seriously think he’s building that for the next guy? You think he likes JD Vance that much?”

The radio personality continued, “You think he’s doing that level of solid for Marco Rubio? No! On Jan. 20, 2029, Trump is going to go into that ballroom with a stack of Hustlers and a crate of Big Macs and lock the door from the inside, OK?”

Trump has frequently pushed both senior officials as potential heirs to his MAGA administration, stating last year that a Vance-Rubio ticket for 2028 would be “unstoppable.” He claimed earlier this week they duo would be the “dream team” once his time in office is up.

Trump acknowledged last year, “it’s pretty clear” he legally isn’t allowed to run again.

However, the MAGA leader has been showing off a collection of “TRUMP 2028” hats, riling up crowds by teasing another term and baselessly arguing the 2020 election was “stolen.”

“I’m not asking Trump not to run for a third term,” said Charlamagne. “Trump’s gonna Trump.”

He continued, “What I’m asking is for the Republican Party to be honest for once and tell us whether or not you want this man to be king, OK? I’m tired of edging dictatorship. I’m getting red, white and blue balls, people, OK? Waiting to find out if our democracy still matters.”

The answer to that question could arrive in the form of this year’s midterm elections, as Democrats could flip the Republican-led House and Senate, and wield Congress to hold Trump and his administration accountable over their staggering litany of apparent crimes.

Whether Trump will hunker down in his ballroom come 2028 remains to be seen. He said last year that the project would be privately funded to the tune of $200 million, only for the cost to double and for Senate Republicans to seek $1 billion from taxpayers for security “upgrades.”

Many have criticized the ballroom as nothing but a “vanity project.” Trump recently divulged to reporters that the U.S. military has been building a “massive complex” beneath it, which was “supposed to be a secret” that only came out “because of a stupid lawsuit.”
