Mariah Carey Reacts To Third Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Snub In A Row

Mariah Carey isn’t letting her omission from this year’s list of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees get her down. Speaking to TMZ on Monday, Carey seemed truly unbothered about failing to secure enough votes to be among the musicians selected for induction in the fall. “No,” she replied, when asked if she cared about the lack of recognition. Never one to mince words, the five-time Grammy winner didn’t flinch when TMZ’s reporter pressed for clarification. “Yeah, who cares?” she said. “Give it to somebody else. Fantastic!” Numerous entertainment outlets had considered Carey a shoo-in for the honor, given that 2026 marked her third consecutive year receiving a nomination. She also holds the record for most No. 1 songs by a female solo artist with a total of 19, placing her ahead of Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Madonna. Earlier this month, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame unveiled its list of eight musicians who had been selected for induction by voters from a total of 17 nominees, and the pop diva’s name was nowhere to be found. Other musicians left out in the cold included Melissa Etheridge, Lauryn Hill, Pink and Shakira. Though she’s been known to take some time out of the spotlight after the holiday season, Carey has been keeping busy in 2026 thus far. In February, she performed at the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony in Milan, singing a mashup of the classic Italian song “Volare” and her recent single, “Nothing Is Impossible.” This month, she put her New York penthouse ― which was memorably featured on an episode of MTV’s “Cribs” in 2002 ― up for sale for a staggering $27 million and has said she plans to purchase a new home outside the city. From the sounds of it, not having to gear up for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction will allow the artist many have described as the “Queen of Christmas” to get back to doing what she loves best even sooner than usual. “Soon ... Christmas is going on, yes,” she quipped to TMZ, when asked if she’d begun planning for the 2026 holidays. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony is slated to take place Nov. 14 in Los Angeles.
