LITTLE ROCK, ARK. – A man in downtown Little Rock said he narrowly escaped being struck by gunfire during a chaotic shooting Saturday night that left one person injured. Police responded to reports of gunfire just before 11 p.m. at 300 East President Clinton Avenue. When officers arrived, they found shattered glass and evidence of gunfire, including a bullet hole in a nearby window. No suspect information has been released. Little Rock police investigating River Market shooting; businesses describe chaos, safety concerns Roderick McClinton, who lives in Little Rock, said he was watching a street magic trick when the situation quickly escalated. “And just as we were watching it — I heard two shots,” McClinton said. “As I was running, I was realizing that these shots are coming in my direction. I could feel them whizzing past my head. I could feel them hitting cars.” McClinton said he ran to safety and realized someone nearby had been struck. “He was talking to the police, and he was in agony,” McClinton said. “He was just like, ‘I’m shot. Man, they shot me.’” According to McClinton, the area was crowded at the time of the shooting. “There were like tons of kids right here — maybe like a hundred,” McClinton said. He said he didn’t see a police officer before the shooting happened. “When the guy that was next to me got shot, two police came, and they aided him,” McClinton said. “But before then, there was no police anywhere.” Person injured in Little Rock River Market shooting Little Rock police said the downtown area is regularly patrolled. The city enforces a curfew for juveniles during the summer months, but that policy was not in effect at the time of the incident.
