DENVER (KDVR) — Several ski areas are closing early for the season after an unusually warm winter, but some resorts received one final push for spring snow at the start of April. This winter was one of the warmest in history, and ski areas felt the consequences. Several resorts pushed back their opening days, and hundreds of trails were still closed by the end of December. These warm conditions carried through the winter and into the spring. Dirt patches and low snowpack became the norm for many resorts. Ski areas have been trying to hang onto spring skiing, but several have already closed at the end of March. As for the rest of the ski areas still struggling to stay open, some finally saw some inches, with one area even recording 20 inches of snow.
