White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt raised eyebrows on Wednesday with her latest claim about Donald Trump. During a press briefing, Leavitt was asked to clarify which parts of the Trump administration’s reported 15-point ceasefire plan, which it has offered to Iran, she believes are inaccurate. “Look, if you’ve heard it from the president of the United States, obviously it’s true,” Leavitt replied, arguing the goals of the White House’s so-called Operation Eric Fury — which officials have repeatedly sidestepped questions about — had already been outlined “from this podium” and by the Pentagon. Many critics responded on social media using laughing emojis, while others pointed to past fact-checking of the president, including a Washington Post analysis that found Trump made more than 30,000 false or misleading claims during his first term.
