A new drive-thru car wash is coming to El Paso's East Side. Mister Car Wash was founded in Houston, Texas, in 1969. In 1998, the 11 Mister Car Wash locations were purchased by Car Wash Partners and the company moved its headquarters to Tucson, Arizona. By 2012, Mister Car Wash had become the largest car wash company in the United States, with 100 locations in more than 20 states, including Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California and Florida. The new Mister Car Wash site will be located at 1329 Lee Trevino Drive, according to the city's permit and licensing page. The new car wash is located across the street from a Bank of America location and a Firestone Complete Auto Care. The site is just down the street from a Home Depot Garden Center in one direction and a Pho 24 restaurant in the other. Construction will consist of a new ground-up tunnel car wash. The contractor for the project is not listed on the city's website, but the applicant is Kim Olig of Excel Engineering Inc. in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. The owner is listed as Scot Properties Ltd. in El Paso. The project is valued at $2.5 million.
