Fire burns at homeless camp off interstate in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita Fire Department is on the scene of a grass fire in north Wichita. Crews were called shortly before 4:30 p.m. to a wooded area near Interstate 135 and South Hydraulic Avenue. Crews have had difficulty getting to the fire, which is in a homeless camp, according to Sedgwick County 911 dispatch. New K-96 ramp to northbound I-135 to open this weekend So far, no injuries have been reported. But drivers may see slower traffic in the area due to the fire. This is a developing story.
