An officer has died following a serious car crash while responding to an emergency call, police have said. PC Bradley Corke, 27, died on Saturday after he was critically injured in the collision in Farningham, near Swanley, on Thursday, said Kent Police. The crash involved a marked Ford Focus police car and a Volkswagen Scirocco on the westbound A20 London Road, at the junction with Button Street, at about 19:45 GMT. A colleague, who was in the same vehicle, remains critically ill in hospital and a member of the public in the second vehicle continues to be treated for serious injuries, the force said. In a statement, it said: "Bradley selflessly gave up his life while trying to save the lives of others who were in danger. "His bravery, dedication, and passion for helping others will not be forgotten." Family and colleagues of PC Corke, who had served with Kent Police since 2022 and was based in Tonbridge, were "devastated", said the force. Neil Mennie, chairman of Kent Police Federation, said: "This sad incident serves as a horrific example of the risks police officers face. "Bradley was a popular colleague who will be much missed." Witnesses or anyone with any relevant footage of the crash are urged to contact police. Follow BBC Kent on Facebook, on X, and on Instagram.
