Seth Meyers Roasts 'Very Hurt' Trump Over This Oh So 'Crazy' SOTU Moment

“Late Night” host Seth Meyers on Wednesday shredded President Donald Trump for being “very hurt” that Democrats didn’t give him a resounding ovation during his “long and boring” State of the Union address. Meyers questioned why Trump, whose record-breaking long speech placed dead last among State of the Union addresses this century in a snap CNN poll, would expect Democrats to kiss the ring en masse after he called on states to ban gender-affirming care for young people without parental consent. “Look, nobody stands up. These people are crazy! I’m telling you, they’re crazy,” complained Trump as he pointed to the Democrats. Meyers responded by using an impression of Trump while tying in several of his bizarre claims, “These people are crazy! They said electric boat batteries cause shark attacks, they called Hannibal Lecter a wonderful man, they sent a hospital boat to Greenland for no re — oh, I real — those are all things I did.” The comedian emphasized that Trump was “so desperate for a win” that he tried to co-opt the U.S. men’s hockey team’s Olympic gold medal win. Trump visited with players on the team, tried on a gold medal and fed the athletes McDonald’s before several of the Olympians attended the speech. “People are asking me, ‘Please, please, please, Mr. President, we’re winning too much. We can’t take it anymore, we’re not used to winning in our country,’” Trump began. He continued, “I say, ‘No, no, no. You’re going to win again. You’re going to win big. You’re going to win bigger than ever.’ And to prove that point, to prove that point, here with us tonight is a group of winners who just made the entire nation proud.” Meyers clapped back, “Hey man, you’re not winning. They’re winning. You didn’t win shit!” Watch more of Meyers’ Wednesday monologue on “Late Night.” By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
