Former BYU wide receiver accused of rape makes court appearance

GEORGE, Utah (ABC4) — Parker Trent Kingston, the former BYU football player accused of raping a 20-year-old woman, appeared virtually in court on Wednesday morning. Kingston, 21, was charged with first-degree felony rape by the Washington County Attorney’s Office in connection with an incident last year. The alleged victim reported to police that Kingston raped her on Feb. 23, 2025, in a St. George residence. On Wednesday morning, both counsels discussed discovery. No further discovery was requested. There will be a preliminary hearing on March 23. At this point, it is unknown whether the alleged victim will testify during the hearing. A spokesperson with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Kingston is a former member of the BYU football team. Kingston, a Roy High School graduate, was BYU’s leading receiver last season with 66 receptions for 924 yards and five touchdowns. Kingston also rushed for 123 yards and returned a punt for a TD. Kingston was expected to be the Cougars top wideout this coming season. BYU Athletics offered the following statement on Kingston’s arrest: “BYU became aware today of the arrest of Parker Kingston. The university takes any allegation very seriously, and will cooperate with law enforcement. Due to federal and university privacy laws and practices for students, the university will not be able to provide additional comment.“ BYU confirmed to ABC4 that Kingston is no longer on the team. Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
