A man has been jailed for raping a woman "after she had just given birth", Humberside Police said.

Michael Wilkinson, 30, from Hull, had denied two counts of rape in September 2025, but was found guilty of one of the charges and cleared of the other following a trial at Hull Crown Court on 5 February.

He was jailed for eight years and handed a lifetime restraining order at the same court the following day.

Det Con Jen Rix, who led the investigation, said: "This was an appalling and deeply violating offence, and Wilkinson targeted the woman at one of the most vulnerable moments in her life."

Rix added: "His behaviour was predatory, callous and showed complete disregard for her wellbeing, dignity and safety."
